Law removing the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide

Law 66 of 2021

We, KAGAME Paul,President of the Republic;THE PARLIAMENT HAS ADOPTED AND WE SANCTION, PROMULGATE THE FOLLOWING LAW AND ORDER IT BE PUBLISHED IN THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE OF THE REPUBLIC OF RWANDA
THE PARLIAMENT:The Chamber of Deputies, in its sitting of 01 October 2021;Pursuant to the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 2003 revised in 2015, especially in Articles 64, 69, 70, 88, 90, 91, 93, 106, 120, 122, 139 and 176;Having reviewed Law n° 015/2021 of 03/03/2021 governing the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide;ADOPTS:

Article One – Removing the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide

The National Commission for the Fight against Genocide is removed.

Article 2 – Public servants that were employed by the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide

Public servants that were employed by the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide are placed in accorandance with laws governing public servants.

Article 3 – Property, contracts and liabilities

Property, contracts and liabilities of the former National Commission for the Fight against Genocide are transferred to the Ministry in charge of National Unity and Civic Engagement.

Article 4 – Drafting, consideration and adoption of this Law

This Law was drafted, considered and adopted in Ikinyarwanda.

Article 5 – Repealing a law and all prior legal provisions contrary to this Law

Law n° 015/2021 of 03/03/2021 governing the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide and all prior legal provisions contrary to this Law are repealed.

Article 6 – Commencement

This Law comes into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Rwanda.
